Exposed brick walls decorated with vintage images of New York City and romantic, dim lighting create a chic ambience at Confidant, but this spot doesn't take itself too seriously (spot the quirky animal figures, including a dog wearing a "Happy Birthday" hat). Their food is seriously leveled up, though, offering dishes such as scallop crudo, trout mousse and trottole vongole alongside dry-aged meats. Designed for sharing, it's well-advised to sample several, including the prawn pot pie with an enticing, heady aroma. A 35-day aged pork chop is sided by peach mostarda quenelles and pork belly with fennel pollen, while semifreddo is the perfect bookend.
