Thirio

The Michelin Guide's review
If you are looking for an informal, relaxed place to enjoy a good meal near the famous Syntagma Square, make a note of this restaurant’s name! It is called ‘Thirio’ (a Greek term meaning ‘beast’ or something imposing), was conceived by renowned chef Thomas Matsas and bases its offering on traditional Greek recipes, creatively and contemporarily reinterpreted. This is a compact, relaxed venue with two counters: one in front of the kitchen and another a little further back, seating 16 diners. As you chat with the cooks, dishes such as Grilled collard greens, with a touch of graviera cheese and crispy dried sausage, flavoursome Beef Short ribs served with braised vegetables and Greek polenta, and the reinvented classic Rice Crème brulèe — rice pudding with crème brûlée — are served. Most dishes receive their finishing touches at the counter in full view of the customer, while the cooks interact with you!
