The Michelin Guide's review
Locals have been flocking to Parwana Afghan Kitchen since its opening in 2009. They're all coming for the classic cooking that eschews trends and delivers simple comfort. This is a kitchen that prioritizes sharing and encourages guests to come with a crowd (and they do). Begin with an order of traditional, spiced vegetable fritters served with chutney (pekowrah) or a duo of dips with pita crackers (chukayih). Afghan-style rice dishes, or palaw, are a must, as are gosht, or grilled meat like yogurt-marinated lamb or chicken. Naan is found on every table, (it's traditionally used in place of utensils, though cutlery is provided).
