The Michelin Guide's review
Wedged between steep schistose slopes that are spanned by four bridges, for many centuries the Via Mala lived up to its nickname of Bad Path, when it was one of the most feared of the "Untere Strasse" (lower roads) across the Alps. Today it is easily accessible, thanks to 321 steps leading to galleries (30min-return). This natural monument embraces a sweeping vista over the Rhine, flowing 68m below, with a wonderful bird's eye view over the river.
