This three-floor museum is sited in a late-19C neo-Renaissance building. One of its main architectural features is a huge central staircase. The major section focuses on Silesian art, particularly during the medieval era. Galleries explore the period from the Renaissance to the 19C (mannerist and modernist art), while others cover 17C-19C Polish art. In the rooms devoted to European art from the 15C to the early 20C are works by artists from Cranach to Kandinsky, spanning a wide range of styles and countries.
