Riel House National Historic Site
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Although Louis Riel, a Metis leader, never actually lived in the house, his body lay in state here after his execution in November 1885. Built in 1881 and meticulously restored since, the modest wooden house became home to the Riel family until 1968; it provides an insight into the life of this family and the settlement on Red River.
