The Michelin Guide's review
This neo-Classical building was built for King Stanislas II Augustus Poniatowski. It suffered war damage but its furniture and other collections survived. On the ground floor, decorations at the foot of the walls recall that this was a "bathing pavilion" (Lazienski), while the bath hall and the picture gallery highlight the king's Classical taste and collector's eye. Opposite the palace, the island amphitheatre's antique ruins form a backdrop for summer events.
