Church of St Anne

The Michelin Guide's review
On seeing the latticework of brick (33 different varieties) making up the façade of St Anne's, Napoleon is said to have wanted to dismantle it and take it home to France. This little church with its elegant contours reaching skywards is a masterpiece of Lithuanian Gothic art. Beyond its doors lies a sober interior which has previously suffered fire damage and been ransacked (by Napoleon's troops). The vaults and colonnades enlivening its white walls are mirrored by its colourful stained glass.
