The Michelin Guide's review
Among the institutions that comprise the Musei Reali di Torino, the chapel, which is above the duomo's master altar, is a genuine masterpiece by Guarini. This rotunda, devastated by a fire in 1997 and reopened in 2018, was built between 1668 and 1694 to house the Holy Shroud, currently preserved in the lower left-hand side of the cathedral. Crowned by a lofty black marble dome, the chapel is rife in symbolism: stars, hexagons, crosses, nails, thorns and olive leaves.
