The Michelin Guide's review
The main Jewish temple in Toledo in the late 12C, the synagogue was given to the Knights of Calatrava in 1405 and turned into a church. The interior has nonetheless retained the style of an Almohad mosque. Five naves are laid out on tiered levels, separated by horseshoe arches supported by 24 octagonal pillars. The white plaster enhances the capitals and the marvellous decoration of the upper level.
