The Michelin Guide's review
The first charter to mention St-Étienne dates from 1258. Admire the plans and engravings that illustrate the history of the town, as well as a Baroque altarpiece. Another interesting exhibit is that highlighting the first industrial railway line, which opened in St-Étienne in 1828. The first floor of the 18C Hôtel de Villeneuve is home to pieces from the collections of the museum of historic St-Étienne.
