The Michelin Guide's review
Set in lovely grounds, the impressive red sandstone palace, built on the site of a former 12C castle and altered in the 18C (particularly the spectacular north façade), is today home to a school, a 500-seat auditorium, a youth hostel and a museum. The basement in the right wing of the castle houses outstanding archaeological collections. The 2nd floor offers a brief overview of Saverne's art and history, while the Louise Weiss (1893-1983) permanent exhibition acquaints us with this militant, feminist journalist.
