Château de la Baume
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Château de la Baume, nicknamed the Versailles of Gévaudan, is depicted by an austere northern facade (17C) made out of granite and Mansart roofs covered in lauze. To the south, the 18C section of the edifice overlooks a huge terrace flanked by a wooded park, which is something of a surprise here. The edifice's outer austerity contrasts with its opulent interior that combines an early-17C rustic Gévaudan style with a more refined 18C style. Definitely worth a visit!
