Skilfully restored by Carlo Scarpa (1950), this Catalan-Gothic palazzo houses paintings and sculpture from the Middle Ages to the 17C (the superb 15C Triumph of Death fresco is of particular interest), plus a vast collection of Renaissance pictures, including many works by the Sicilian School. Note the splendid Annunciation by Antonello da Messina (c 1475) and the famous Malvagna triptych by Jan Gossaert, known as Mabuse.
