Regional Archaeological Museum of Salinas
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The museum housed in the 16C Olivella convent contains a very fine collection of objects found at the principal Sicilian archaeological sites, in particular Selinunte. Beyond the little cloister with its hexagonal fountain, visitors continue to the great cloister, from where rooms lead off displaying finds mainly from Selinunte (fine metopes). On the first floor, note the Ram, a superb bronze from Syracuse. Greek ceramics, fine mosaics, and Roman murals. The museum is only partially open to the public due to ongoing restoration work.
