The Michelin Guide's review
Place du Martroi is a pleasant car-free square with attractive fountains and a plethora of cafe terraces. The focal point of the town centre is home to the highly symbolic equestrian statue of Joan of Arc, La Pucelle d'Orléans, by Denis Foyatier (1793-1863). Remains of the Bannier gate are visible in the pedestrian walkway to the underground car park. On the west corner, on the Rue Royale side, the Chancellerie Pavilion was built in 1759 by the Duke of Orleans to house his archives.
