The Michelin Guide's review
In 1852 the foundations of an immense Roman villa built in the 2C or 3C CE were discovered on a splendid site in the Mosel Valley. See the magnificent mosaic floor of the main hall (16x10m/52x33ft). Beautifully preserved, it depicts scenes of gladiatorial combat between men and beasts such as those that took place in the arenas of Trier.
