The Michelin Guide's review
The nerve centre of the city and favourite meeting place of its inhabitants, the huge pedestrian square of la Comédie, lined by handsome Haussmann edifices, creates a bridge between historic Montpellier and the modern neighbourhoods. To discover why it is dubbed the "Egg", follow the oval-shaped outline of the former square, past the Three Graces Fountain by sculptor Étienne Antoine, with the 19C façade of the theatre in the background.
