The Michelin Guide's review
Jacques Majorelle, an artist from Nancy (1886-1962), developed a passion for Morocco where he came to live in the 1920s. His garden was a hymn to colour and lush vegetation, planted with species from all over the world and highlighted by the shade of blue he created. The artist's former studio is now home to a superb Berber museum which displays objects from the collection of Pierre Bergé, who bought the gardens in 1980 with Yves Saint Laurent. Today the site is run by a foundation.
