The Michelin Guide's review
Pope Clement VI had the current church rebuilt from 1344 to 1352. Hewn out of the granite, it has an air of grandeur and austerity, particularly in the nave. Be sure to see the 15C rood screen, the superb 17C organ case and the splendid chancel surrounded by 144 oak stalls (15C). Several tombs, including that of Clement VI, have been laid here, and the splendid 26m-long fresco of the Danse Macabre (Dance of Death) is quite eye-catching.
