The Michelin Guide's review
Sinan (16C) dreamt of outdoing the Greek architects of the Aya Sofia basilica and built this masterpiece to Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent as a tribute to his reign. The largest mosque Sinan ever built included five madrasahs, a kitchen, a hospice, a hospital and a steam bath. The interior boasts 138 windows, calligraphy of rare delicacy, ceramics and marble columns, etc. From the terraced gardens, the view extends as far as the Golden Horn.
