The Michelin Guide's review
Built on the square of the same name in 1250, the Gothic church of Santissima Annunziata was later rebuilt by Michelozzo in the Renaissance style; the addition of decorated chapels, in particular, brought a Baroque touch in the 17C. The 15C atrium in front of it is decorated with frescoes, partly dedicated to a cycle on the Virgin Mary. In the Cloisters of the Dead, above a door facing the street, is a famous fresco by Andrea del Sarto: Madonna del Sacco (1525).
