Fondouk Tsétaounine
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
At the same time as the madrasas, the sultans were having fondouks built. These roadside inns for travellers also had a dual purpose. On the ground floor, around the courtyard where the animals were housed, small rooms served as shops and warehouses for merchandise. Above, several floors of galleries led to the guestrooms. Today, the fondouk has returned to its original commercial activity, housing artisans' workshops and shops.
