The Michelin Guide's review
With its terraces, pergolas and Russian chapel, Mathildenhöhe is one of the most unusual places in Darmstadt. The ensemble is characteristic of the Art Nouveau architecture of the very start of the 20C, as the Museum Künstlerkolonie shows. In 1901 the homes and ateliers clustered close to the Russian chapel formed the centre of the exhibition "A Document of German Art". You can also admire the two mosaics celebrating love in the Wedding Tower (1908).
