Glens of Antrim

The Michelin Guide's review
This wild coast, from Ballycastle to Larne, crisscrossed by narrow glens descending from high plateaux, is one of the most captivating regions in Ireland. The infinite variety of landscapes of Antrim's glens calls to mind by turns the Alps and Brittany, and is a source of constant astonishment to visitors. Until the arrival of the railway in the late 19C, the region as a whole (and especially each glen) was isolated. The road became fit for motor vehicles in the mid-20C.
