The Michelin Guide's review
The museum traces the history of the Dobroudja province (lying between the Danube and the Black Sea) from the paleolithic period to the present. Among its treasures, note the Greek and Roman pieces, including jewellery and statues, like the famous Glycon (3C) with a snake body and human hair, adopted as the symbol of the town, and the Hamangia thinker, a neolithic sculpture excavated at the Cernavoda necropolis. The country's 19C history is also explained.
