The Michelin Guide's review
The Post Office Saving Bank building (Postatakarékpénztár) was designed by Ödön Lechner (1845-1914), a pionneer and reference in Hungarian Art Nouveau - also called Secession. The building has a touch of whimsy and is astonishing. Ornamentation, colours and shapes are combined with brick, mosaics and ceramics to create an exceedingly original composition. It now houses the tax authorities' offices.
