The Michelin Guide's review
This museum in one of the oldest timber buildings alongside the quays illustrates the harsh existence of a League merchant. On the lower floors were the warehouse, workshops and the office, where the accounting books, ship's log and transaction registers were kept. The top floor was a dormitory for employees, mostly young single men who had come from abroad to get into trading. Because of the fire hazard they represented, heating and lighting were forbidden.
