The Château de Belvoir (12C), owned by the families of Lorraine and the Princes of Rohan until the 19C, is perched on a headland overlooking the Vallon de Sancey. In 1955 it was bought and restored by the painter Pierre Jouffroy (1912-2000), who furnished it with pieces in keeping with its prestigious past. You will notice that Jouffroy's so-called Realist painting is a common thread throughout. Works by Gustave Courbet, Franz Hals and Georges Laethier are also on show.
