The small abandoned village of Aradena, 16km from Hóra Sfakíon, marks the beginning of the Aradena Gorge. The hike should be avoided by anyone with a fear of heights or not in good physical shape, in which case you should rather make the most of the spectacular view from the bridge. Allow 2hr 30min to cover the 7km downhill, 3hr for the uphill leg. Bring water and wear walking boots.
