The Michelin Guide's review
The town hall was built in the 14C on the site of Charlemagne's palace, of which only the Granus tower remains. The façade of the tower, overlooking the market place, is decorated with statues of emperors and kings crowned in Aachen. Inside, see the White Room where the Peace Treaty of 1748 was signed, and the wood-panelled Council Chamber. The ribbed vaulting of the Coronation Chamber is quite remarkable.
