The Michelin Guide's review
This extensive treasury is home to a unique collection of precious objects linked to the history of the cathedral and includes over one hundred outstanding works of art. These include the gold and silver reliquary bust of Charlemagne (dating from after 1349), a gift from Charles IV; the Cross of Lothair, adorned with precious stones (c 1100); the Aachen altarpiece (c 1520); and a unique ivory situla (c 1000). Also worthy of note are the many precious fabrics displayed around the Cappa Leonis (14C), once used as a coronation robe.
