The Michelin Guide's review
Penetrated by the Estéron River, the St Auban Gorge is grandiose: vertical walls, a deep bed cluttered with rocks, astonishingly steep cliffs pierced with huge caves, and finally peirols (craters) and oules (potholes) hewn out of the rock by the torrential rages of spring. It is part of Haute-Provence's clues, impressive canyons hewn out of the rock by powerful rivers. Take the D 2211 to reach Briançonnet, a village that looks frail beneath its huge rock.
